In 2024 I became deaf in my left ear, suddenly and permanently. As a musician and trained audio engineer, losing stereo was its own kind of grief. After exhausting the market for something that could help me hear music in stereo again, I realized I had to build it myself. CrosTalk is a personal audio processor that pulls sound from my deaf side and routes it to my good one, and it's in daily use. CrosTalk is a true maker project, taken all the way to a real product. It runs custom C++ firmware on a board I designed, pairs over Bluetooth, and is controlled by an iOS app I built to go with it. CrosTalk brings together everything I do from microcontroller electronics, to custom PCB design, CAD and 3D printing, embedded software, considered use of AI, and decades of audio engineering and systems experience. Stay tuned, more to come!
